Polarized glasses will allow you to see through the water and visualize fish and structure and will greatly enhance your experience.  Water levels in the river vary depending on discharges from the dam at Whitney Lake, some walking over gravel bars may be necessary depending on conditions. Appropriate foot wear is a necessity. "Water sandals" are not recommended due to the small gravel. Boots or shoes with wool socks are recommended.



There is nothing quite like the outdoors. From the first moment you arrive until the last moment you leave, you will experience the outdoors like never before. Fish the Brazos with experienced fishing guide Matt Powell, on a guided float trip traversing approximately 8 miles of the Brazos river, below the lake Whitney dam. Fishing is from an aluminum boat powered by trolling motor that will accommodate 1 or 2 people.

  • Lures and tackle are supplied for conventional fishing
  • Fly fishermen supply their own rod & reel
  • Bring a sack lunch or small personal cooler, water for drinking is supplied
  • Hat & polarized sunglasses are recommended
  • an additional boat is available for fishing more than 2 people
  • Guide fees are $400.00 per boat.
